Bike usage is highest during traditional commuting hours (7am-9am and 4pm-6pm) on weekdays. The bi-modal peak indicates that the service is primarily used by monthly Members for their daily commute. Usage drops significantly during midday and on weekends, which is when Casual users dominate.
The interactive map highlights the geographical spread and concentration of bike pick-up points. Stations around major transport hubs (Southern Cross) and tourist attractions (Federation Square) show high clustering. Understanding this helps optimise bike distribution, especially before peak commuting hours.
Trip duration is a key differentiator between user types. Casual users (e.g., tourists, occasional riders) take significantly longer average trips compared to Members (daily commuters), who primarily use the bikes for quick, first-mile/last-mile connections. This suggests different pricing or service models are needed for these two customer segments.
