Law As Code Hackathon 2025/26

AKN-XML Comparative Analysis across multiple legislations

Our Contribution

  • Idea: Comparative analysis of heterogeneous AKN-XML corpora (CH, IT, EU, US)
  • Detect similar norms (e.g., IPR law) and show evolution over time
  • Outputs: comparisons, visualizations, analytics for decision-makers
  • Methods:
    • Hierarchical embeddings (XML structure + normative references)
    • Agentic AI to select the best RAG retrieval/comparison pipeline
  • Dataset sources: Fedlex (CH), Normattiva (IT), EUR-Lex (EU), GovInfo (US)

Why it matters

  • Contributes to the modernization of legal processes in Europe
  • Provides comparative evidence across jurisdictions (CH, IT, EU, US)
  • Helps decision-makers (e.g. WIPO, public sector) understand
    commonalities and divergences in legislation
  • Shows the evolution of norms over time, improving transparency
  • Aligned with hackathon goals: prototype development, open-source release, and scalable solutions
