About Me: Hi, I’m Olivia, a Senior at Xavier University from Cincinnati studying both Marketing and Business Analytics with a concentration in Category Management. I am a passionate and enthusiastic person who is always eager to try new things and take on challenges + problem solve.

Professionally, my interests are in data analytics & insights, especially in the Category Management and retail space. I love telling the story with data and getting creative with it. Personally, I love spending time with friends & family and of course my beloved 6 year old chocolate lab, Bennett, shown below, who loves adventure and road trips (we have taken him on 4 vacations).

Academic Background: Academically, I have taken a robust amount of classes, being a Senior. I have taken all my Marketing requirements and only have BAIS 462 (the R class) left to complete for my BAIS major next semester. One class that I am super excited about this semester is my Retail Analytics practicum, which is new, this is the second year it is available.

We are getting to work with Kroger’s Energy Drinks Category Manager to make recommendations to grow the category at Kroger using Circana and JDA, and through this class I will also earn certifications in Circana University and the Category Management Association. I’ve also especially enjoyed my 3 economics courses, they really taught me so much about business and how the world works and how to be a smarter consumer and citizen.

Finally, I have had the privilege of conducting market research on Nostalgia with Dr. Ashley Stadler Blank and Dr. Kate Loveland in the Marketing dept. through the Downing Research Scholarship Program, where we are performing statistical analysis on some of our surveys (and of course the results aren’t working like we have wanted to so far so we are trying to pivot lol). I hope to use some knowledge from this class to aid my research there and impress them!

Professional Background: Professionally, I have been fortunate enough to have had 2 corporate internships in data analytics and insights, setting me up for success as I apply for full time roles.

Most recently, I was an intern this past summer for Kenvue’s Kroger Customer Facing Team (Formerly Johnson & Johnson), where I had the opportunity to create a dynamic Power BI dashboard using massive data sets from 84.51°’s POS data at Kroger and do a competitive analysis about Publix’s impact on Kroger as they expanded in March into Kroger’s competitive market. This provided me so much experience in what I want to do and I am hoping to land a full time job with them when the applications come out.

Additionally, the summer before, I sat on the Market & Consumer Insights Team for ADM (Archer Daniels Midland) which is a B2B company that manufactures food/bev ingredients like flavors and sweeteners for some of the biggest food and beverage brands. Here I gained experience in data insights in a B2B lense, doing my own market research survey project and making some product testing surveys for potential new product innovations.

Experience with R and Data Mining: This is my first experience with R and Data Mining other than the pre-requisite intro courses in stats that I took (that did not go into too much depth). So I have a good base for the basics of statistically analysis but hope to learn a lot more here in our class.

Experience with Other Analytic Software: I have had experience with Python and SQL from my classes for my BAIS major. I’ve also had a little bit of experience with SPSS through some work with my professors on our research project.
