Statistical analysis

Categorical variables were summarized as counts and percentages, and compared using the chi-square test or Fisher’s exact test, as appropriate. Continuous variables were summarized as medians and interquartile ranges, and compared using the Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test. A two-sided p-value < 0.05 was considered statistically significant. All analyses were performed using R (version 4.3.1; R Foundation for Statistical Computing, Vienna, Austria).
