Who am I?

Hello! My name is Lizeth Garcia Hernández, a Business Analytics major who transferred from one of the Alamo Colleges. As a first-generation student, I consider myself hard-working and full of dreams. Navigating college has been such an adventure, with lots of lessons and mixed emotions. I’m a listener, a collaborative person, and I take advantage of every resource that supports my academic and career journey. Short-term goal: graduate and earn my BBA and MBA or MS. Long-term goal: own a business and retire my parents. Academic Background GED — Palo Alto College After I moved to the States, I earned my GED in just 3 months and immediately enrolled in college courses. Associate of Arts — St. Philip’s College I completed my degree in 2024. I participated in several competitions and visited Orlando, Aurora and Austin with fellow peers and mentors.

  Transferred this spring. I plan to pursue UTSA’s graduate analytics program.

Professional Background

Certified Peer Advisor — UTSA

I currently work in higher education as a Certified Peer Advisor in the Advising department at my former college. I assist students with class registration, advising inquiries, financial aid questions, and tools like Canvas and Alamo GPS. I’ve held this position for almost two years, and it has helped me grow both professionally and personally.

Merchandise Associate — Lowe’s

As a Merchandise Associate at Lowe’s, I follow planograms, help reset holiday sections, and coordinate with vendors and team members to ensure accurate signage and product displays. I’ve developed strong attention to detail, time management, and teamwork skills while balancing this role with full-time college. This experience has taught me the importance of time-managment and work-life balance.
