Nice to meet you! My name is Sindhu Katta and I am a current graduate student in the Masters of Science in Business Analytics Program at Xavier University.
I obviously LOVE food. I love exploring different cuisines and cultures. I was born in India and moves to Sudan (a country in northeast Africa) at the young age of 4 years old. I grew up there until I was around 18, spending 9 months out of the year in Sudan and 4 months in India. Lots of moving around! I moved to Cincinnati at 18 to attend undergrad at Xavier and have been here ever since.
I majored in Economics with minors in Mathematics and Business in undergrad and finished my program in three years (2021-2024). I did a lot of work with quantitative and qualitative analysis and used many equations such as the following: \[Q = -25 + \frac{1}{2}P^2\]
After graduating undergrad in May of 2024, I worked at a start-up company called Woxi.Inc as an Innovation Analyst for a year. Fun fact: the company is right across the campus Starbucks on Montgomery road (in the same building as the bowling alley)! At work, I worked a lot in excel where I performed a lot of data clean up and getting the data ready and in the format most usable for our purposes. Our company worked to build a subscription based tool that allows CPG (consumer packaged goods) companies to perform instant forecasts for new innovations.
My experience with is somwehere between beginner to intermediate. I took an econometrics class in undergrad with Dr. Sen from the Econ faculty at Xavier where we did a lot of work in R but we were mostly given the code and did not really understand the foundations of how to write code. I am glad I am able to learn the thought process behind the R language in this class :).
After learning R markdwon in class, here is an example of a code chunk where only the output shows.
I have used Tableau in the past in undergrad and am also taking a class with Dr. Ariyachandra on it this term. I also extensive excel experience because I used it so much in my work at Woxi.
That’s it! Hope you enjoyed getting to know me, excited for the rest of class :).
