Scotland 2025 GPS Data Overview

West Kilbride

A total of 9 hedgehogs were captured in West Kilbride, of which 6 met health criteria and were tagged. All tags have been recollected and processed using the GPS processing code. The deployment period varied between 7-16 days with an average fix success rate of 48.13%. One mortality (via roadkill) was recorded during the survey period, although after the GPS tag was removed.

Lochwinnoch

10 hedgehogs were captured in Lochwinnoch. Of these 7 were caught in the first 10 surveys, leading to 4 being tagged, having met health criteria. The deployment period varied between 8-16 days . One mortality (via dog attack) was recorded at the end of survey when the tag was collected.

Tillicoultry

Across all surveys, four males were encountered and each were tagged. Only one was recaptured. The tagging period varied from 5-19 days. Recapture and tag removal was difficult given the small ranges and limited movement of the hedgehog.No moralities were recorded.
