About Me

Hello! My name is George Cain. I am 30 years old, have a wife and two kids, and own my own house. (Apparently only 15% of people my age are married and own their own home, so this puts me in a surprisingly small group!) I spent my young adult years focusing on academics and also trying to get my career off the ground, with very disappointing results so far. I’m hoping that my MBA will help me jumpstart my career. I grew up in the Cleveland, Ohio area, which still feels like home to me, but moved out closer to the Sandusky, Ohio area a few years ago. Things that I enjoy include going on walks, researching trivia and fun facts about people and history, and scrolling through social media to enjoy artwork and memes.

Academic Background

  • H.S. Diploma, Cuyahoga Heights High School, Cuyahoga Hts, OH
  • Bachelor in Chemical Engineering, Cleveland State University, Cleveland, OH
  • M.S. in Environmental Engineering, Cleveland State University, Cleveland, OH
  • Online MBA (in progress), University of Cincinnati, Cincinnati, OH

Professional Background

Currently unemployed because I got fired 3 weeks ago from my Project Administrator job at a robotics company for glancing away for 2 seconds from my psycho boss’s presentation. (No joke.) Hooray!

Previously, I worked at Cedar Point amusement park for 1 year as a Workforce Scheduler, writing the schedules for the workers at 5 hotels and 3 laundry facilities while staying under budget. Prior to this, I worked at Whirlpool Corporation at a plant that manufactures washing machines, performing roles ranging from supporting Production as an Operator and Responder to supporting the Supply Chain as a Material Planner, ensuring that the suppliers were sending parts to the plant on-time.

Experience with R

This course is my first exposure to R. So, this is my 2nd week learning R.

Experience with other Analytic Software

I previously took a course for my MBA in which I learned the basics of SQL to execute queries for data. I’ve also learned how to use tools in Excel to perform data analytics, and would now consider my knowledge of that to be somewhere between novice and intermediate.
