Introduction to me!

Hello, my name is Akshara Miriyala, and I’m pursuing my Master’s in Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati. My background is in BTech with strong academics in mathematics, programming, and analytics. During my undergrad, I worked on several real-world projects using Databricks, focusing on data cleaning, streaming, and pipeline creation.

Now, through my master’s, I’m building expertise in bridging technical data skills with business strategy. I’m particularly interested in data storytelling and how analytics can drive impactful decision-making. My career goal is to contribute to solving business challenges by leveraging both advanced analytics and technology.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND

Currently:

• Pursuing Master’s in Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati

• Focused on bridging technical data skills with business strategy, data storytelling, and business decision-making using analytics

Undergraduate:

• Completed Bachelor of Technology (BTech) in Computer science and Engineering in Malla Reddy Engineering College For Women, Hyderabad.

• Gained strong foundation in Mathematics, Programming (C, Python, Java, HTML, CSS), and Analytics

• Hands-on experience with Databricks, including creating DataFrames, Delta tables, streaming pipelines, and Delta Live Tables

What I Did Prior to R

• Learned programming in Python, C, and Java and practiced problem-solving.

• Used Excel and SQL for basic data analysis and reporting.

• Explored data concepts but hadn’t applied them in R yet.

EXPERIENCE WITH R

First heard about R during my undergraduate studies but only explored it briefly online.

• Started learning R properly during my Master’s program as a first-time user.

• Found it both challenging and exciting because of its unique syntax and strong data capabilities.

• Enjoy working with R Markdown and Shiny for analysis, visualization, and interactive dashboards.

• Regularly follow R Bloggers to learn tips and see real-world R applications.
