Introduction to Me

Hello! My name is Sam Heathcote. My main career interest lies in using data to improve business efficiency and optimize decision-making processes. This search for efficiency extends to the rest of my life as well, where I love to compete in speed jigsaw puzzle competitions (all about the efficiency of the solve), and I listen to lots of audio books (way more time efficient than reading physical books). I grew up in south central Indiana, but I have been living in Blue Ash, Ohio since Spring 2025.

• Research Assistant for the P&G Digital Accelerator through the University of Cincinnati 1819 Innovation Hub
• Associate Process Engineer at Herbalife in a manufacturing plant in North Carolina
• Industrial Engineering Intern at Republic Airways in Indianapolis, Indiana
• Quality Engineer Intern at ISCO Industries in Louisville, Kentucky

Although I have had a wide variety of roles, I have always been drawn to projects that involved data and problem solving, so I have dabbled in Python, R, Minitab, and PowerBI.

Experience with R

During my undergraduate studies, I learned and used R in my statistics courses. We mostly did exploratory data analysis on data using summary statistics and basic graphing. I also used it to do some basic EDA for a project on extending calibration intervals at ISCO Industries. Due to my limited exposure to R previously, I am excited to dive deeper into the program and explore how I could use it more completely in my future career.
