Introduction

Hi! I am a student in the MS BANA program learning how to turn analytic results into strategic business decisions. I am from Lexington, KY and moved to Cincinnati last month.

Academic Background

Fun fact: In my math capstone course, we were required to write all reports and presentations in LaTeX, so I’m actually quite familiar with this format! For example, my project was related to limits and derivatives, so I included equations like the this: \[ f(x) = 3x^2 + 5x \] \[ \frac{d}{dx}f(x) = 6x + 5 \]

Professional Background

While I am currently a full time student, I do have about a year of work experience. I spent the last year working as an intern on the Data Science team at Infineon Technologies. Some of my tasks included:

This semester, I am a graduate assistant in the UC Center for Business Analytics. I am excited to be working on an analytic project for one of the member companies.

Experience with R

I was first introduced to R in my undergrad courses. During my junior and senior years, I took Applied Statistics, Mathematical Modeling, and completed an independent study with a professor about Machine Learning in R. I learned how to perform a variety of tasks, such as:

While I learned how to use R in these courses as a means to complete assignments, they didn’t focus on programming best practices, so I’m looking forward to solidifying my foundation in this class.
