Introduction to me

Hello! My name is Jacob Locke and I am a senior at the University of Cincinnati. I grew up here and have lived in northern Kentucky for the last 18 years. I enjoy playing sports including tennis, pickleball, and golf.

Academic Background

Professional Background

Currently, I am a waterjet engineering co-op at Meyer Tool Inc. here in Cincinnati. In the last three years, I’ve helped work on several long term projects including machine design and computer vision system improvement. Additionally, I’ve gotten to work on smaller but essential short term projects such as tooling design and machine retrofits that help improve process efficiency.

Prior to my time at Meyer Tool, I worked for AMMC/Motion AI as an inside sales representative where I supplied quotes via phone and email and worked with suppliers to place orders.

Experience with R

Prior to this class, I had no R knowledge and have not worked with it in any other classes.

Experience with other Software

I have extensive experience in MATLAB both at school and at work. I have written scripts at both places, but lately I’ve been developing standalone windows applications in MATLAB that can be compiled and deployed to any machine with a runtime license. Additionally, I have a working knowledge of python but have not used it as extensively as I have MATLAB. My python skills come from an engineering overview class and some scripts at work that I’ve developed to help with machine automation.
