Hello! My name is MaKayla Merk. I am lucky to be many things to many people – a wife, a dog mom, a sister, a daughter, and student (just to name a few). Professionally I am a Senior Category Profit Improvement Analyst for The Kroger Company. I am pursuing my Masters to have a broader understanding and knowledge of data and business analytics.

Professional Background

I have worked for The Kroger Company since I was 16 years old. From high school into college I worked in the stores. Post graduation I began working for the Category Profit Improvement team as an Analyst on the Dairy team. As an analyst I work with the merchandising team to identify opportunities to improve average unit retail and gross margin on many dairy items. In November of 2023, I was promoted to Senior Analyst on the same team. As a senior analyst I continued my previous duties while also supporting other analysts on my team.

Experience with R

My experience with R is very limited. I ran R during my Undergrad at Xavier to visualize public voting data for Anderson Township while working on a campaign my sophomore year.

Experience with Other Analytic Software

My experience with other analytic extends to Excel and Power BI. These are the main tools used to analyze gross margin and other key metrics at The Kroger Company.
