Explanation

Surveillance of adult mosquitoes is conducted weekly from May through September throughout the District to

  • Monitor the effectiveness of larval mosquito control efforts

  • Track mosquito abundance

  • Obtain mosquitoes for disease testing

  • Watch for potentially invasive mosquito species

In addition to routine trapping reported on this site, surveillance traps are also used as part of a response to reports of unexpectedly high numbers of mosquitoes in other areas. To submit a service request or report high numbers of mosquitoes in your area please visit the Services page of our website.
