Surveillance of adult mosquitoes is conducted weekly from May through September throughout the District to
Monitor the effectiveness of larval mosquito control efforts
Track mosquito abundance
Obtain mosquitoes for disease testing
Watch for potentially invasive mosquito species
In addition to routine trapping reported on this site, surveillance traps are also used as part of a response to reports of unexpectedly high numbers of mosquitoes in other areas. To submit a service request or report high numbers of mosquitoes in your area please visit the Services page of our website.
