Laura Pahren

Introduction

I am born and raised Cincinnatian from the suburbs of Wyoming. I grew up as an avid swimmer, swimming for the Cincinnati Marlins and eventually a varsity swimmer at UC. COVID lockdown kept me from my pool for a couple months, where I evolved into a runner. I have now transitioned into a huge marathon runner. In fact, I do a lot of run-cations, running marathons in France, Italy, Germany, Panama, as well as domestically in Colorado, Maryland, South Carolina, Tennessee, Ohio, Massachusetts and West Virginia. My next races are the Berlin marathon in September and a 100 mile race across Michigan in October!

Experience with R

My main R experience came from a Biostatistics course at UC, while pursing my Masters/PhD in Mechanical Engineering. We learned some basic machine learning libraries and how to apply them to solve some case studies in medicine. We also visualized the data after each data manipulation/modeling step, though I can’t recall the libraries we specifically used (to be fair, I’ve been in college for almost 20 years straight…)

Experience with other analytical software

  • PowerBI: Created the executive dashboard for the C-Suite at Procter & Gamble for our monthly global reporting.
  • Knime: I owned the data wrangling and cleaning for our executive reporting in my CEO Analyst role.
  • Tableau: owned and developed our tools for creating visualizations for our global reports and prereads for our CEO regional visits or T2T/E2E reviews.
  • Python: Fluency in Python for my day-to-day work at P&G.
  • Matlab: fluency from graduate research, as this was our main language at the IMS Center at the University of Cincinnati.
  • R/Java/C#: Proficiency in these programming languages from basic coursework or one-off project applications.
