Overview

General Overview:
This data visualization takes a closer look at where road crashes are happening across Victoria and who is most affected. Crash data from 2017 to 2024 is used to explore patterns in different parts of the state especially in areas like Melbourne, Casey, and Hume where incidents have remained high. There is also a steady increase in crashes noticed in fast-growing suburbs such as Wyndham and Whittlesea, likely due to rising population and traffic congestion.

A big part of focus was on understanding the people involved in these crashes. It was found that males were involved more often than females, and people in their 30s were the most commonly affected age group. These kinds of patterns give us clues about where to focus road safety efforts like awareness campaigns, better road design, or more traffic enforcement in key areas.

Through this dashboard, all this information is hopefully conveyed in a clear and interactive way, using maps and charts to highlight trends and problem areas. The goal is to help planners, policymakers, and the public get a better picture of road safety challenges in Victoria and hopefully use that knowledge to make improvements.
