What do you see as a significant weakness of this visualization? How could you improve it to make it clearer, easier to understand, or more impactful? Make sure you provide some detail in justifying your answer.
The visualization lacks proper axes to understand what data is wihtout reading the caption of the data. Including data header such as “Length of Hospital Stays of Medicare Beneficiaries Living With or Without Dementia an Coexisitng Medical Conditions” as well as axis title such as “Number of Medicare Beneficiaries- Age 65 or Older (Per 100)” would have made this graph easy to understand and appreicate the story more easily
What do you see as a strength of this visualization? Is there a specific choice of the designer that made it especially useful or impactful? Make sure you provide some detail in justifying your answer.
There are several strangths. The color contrast schemes is easy on the eye. Choosing to represent hospital Medicare Beneficiaries stays as whole numbers was great and provides that each number is a human and was not reduced to too a mathematical fraction or a percentage. The data is also sorted from high numbers on the left to low numbers on the right making it easy to understand that people living with conditions represent in the left side required similar stays with or without dementia, while on the right it was vastly different.
