Extreme precipitation events were classified based on annual precipitation percentiles, with transitions between dry and wet periods categorized as dry-to-wet (dry2wet), wet-to-dry (wet2dry), and persistent extremes (dry2dry, wet2wet). The lines represent the total cultivated area for corn (blue) and soybeans (green), while points indicate years with specific extreme events.
