1. Amazon has laid off 18,000 employees from various departments in
their organization, with higher numbers in HR/Talent (6.73k), Software
Engineering (5.18k), Project/Program Management (1.04k), QA (558) and
Data Science (486).
2. Meta follows with 11,000 layoffs in HR/Talent with 3,280,
Software development with 2,010, Marketing with 1,110 and around 500
layoffs each in PR/Comms&Strategy, Analytics and UI/UX.
3. Microsoft comes 3rd with 9,980 layoffs (half of Amazon’s 18k)
with 3,940 from HR/Talent, 1,340 from Software development, around 650
each in Program Management and Cloud/Data Centers and 350 each in UI/UX
and Marketing departments.
4. Twitter has seen major layoffs (4.4k) in Software development
(1.04k), followed by Marketing, PR/Comms&Strategy, Customer Success
and HR/Talent.
Conclusion
Major layoffs can be seen in HR/Talent(14.2k) and Software
development(9.58k) departments. Marketing is the 3rd, with 2,020 layoffs
from Microsoft, Meta and Twitter. (over 50% of which is from Meta with
1.11k layoffs). All other departments addup to 11,600 layoffs.
