Mohamed Salah is currently a 32 year old footballer who arguably should be past his prime by now but with the current numbers he is putting up, one can only assume that he will only get better. This project will give us an insight to not only Salah’s past G/A (goals and assists) but will also predict how well he will do in the near future.
In this section, we will see Salah’s G/A per year and get an idea of how he has been doing since 2014. Note that the dates do not represent the actual calender year but each English Premier League season, for e.g. the date 2020 represents the season 20/21.
From 2018, we can see Salah has been very consistent reach a goal tally of around 20 per season.
If not for his 2020/2021 season, one could argue that Salah’s assists tally next season will improve.
This graph shows how Prophet is used to predict Mohamed Salah’s Goals in the next 5 years. We can see that Prophet is predicting past 2025 for 5 further years. It predicts that he will score less than he is now (2025) but then after about 2 or 3 seasons he is predicted to match his incredible run in 2018 or even exceed that. The blue shaded region represents the confidence interval (uncertainty), which expands over time while, while the black dots represent the historical data.
This graph shows that in the next few years after 2025, Salah will keep increasing his assists tally without dropping.
In this project we explored Mohamed Salah’s G/A and have used his past performances to predict his future ones. We have used Prophet to predict his goals and assists tally in the next 5 years. Judging from the graphs we have outputted, one can assume that Salah’s performance will only get better as time passes.
