Abstract

In this paper we do state of the art analysis.

1 Introduction

The data set contains information on the series Game of Thrones. We want to find out whether the screen time and the number of episodes an actor appears correlate. The results will be reported literately as postulated by Knuth (1984).

The analysis is shown in Section 2.

2 Analysis

Let’s analyse Figure 1.

Figure 1: Scatter plot with screen time of the actors on the x axis and the number of episodes the actor appeared in on the y axis. The names of the characters which had the highest screen time are added to the plot.

The plots shows that there is indeed a correlation between number of episodes and screen time. In orange the character Eddard ‘Ned’ Stark is highlighted, as he has a rather high screen time compared to the number of episodes he appeared in. This might be due to his importance but rather early death in the series.

Table 1 shows the top 10 characters.

Table 1: These are the characters with the highest amount of screen time.
name screentime episodes
Tyrion Lannister 293.30 54
Jon Snow 268.15 49
Daenerys Targaryen 221.30 49
Cersei Lannister 201.45 52
Sansa Stark 199.30 47
Arya Stark 189.15 47
Jaime Lannister 162.30 43
Theon Greyjoy 123.30 39
