Introduction

I’m going to be performing an analysis of a dataset that contains video game sales by various different variables. These include the name, platform, year, genre, publisher, NA_sales, EU_sales, JP_sales and global sales.

Research Question

Which genre of video game has the greatest amount of total global sales? Are sports games more popular than action games? Personally I think that it will be action games with the higher amount of sales as I get the feeling that they are the most popular.

vd_gms %>%
  filter(!is.na(Genre)) %>%
  group_by(Genre)%>%
  summarize(Total_Globe_Sales = sum(Global_Sales, na.rm = TRUE)) %>%
  ggplot(aes(x = Genre, y = Total_Globe_Sales)) +
  geom_bar(stat = "identity", fill = "blue3", color = "black", alpha = 0.7) +
  labs(title = "Total Global Sales Of Video Games by Genre",
       x = "Genre",
       y = "Total Global Sales (in Millions)")

Looking at the graph you can see that Action games have a much greater amount of global sales than any genre of game including sports games, proving that my hypothesis was right.
