Percobaan augmented merupakan salah satu grup percobaan rancangan kelompok tak lengkap. Rancangan ini terdiri dari beberapa genotipe tertentu yang diulang dalam setiap kelompok, sedangkan gen yang lain tidak. Rancangan ini di lapangan lebih sering dikenal dengan augmented blok. Kelebihan rancangan ini daripada rancangan lingkungan (RAK dan RBSL) yaitu mampu mengakomodasi jumlah perlakuan yang lebih besar ke dalam unit-unit percobaan. Pada rancangan augmented blok ini terdiri dari dua kelompok genotipe, yaitu genotipe cek (control) dan genotipe new (galur). Genotipe cek berguna untuk mengontrol keragaman di setiap kelompok yang telah diacak dan dialokasikan di dalamnya. Sedangkan genotipe new tidak diberlakukan pengulangan, dan langsung diacak ke dalam setiap unit-unit percobaan.
Adapun data pada percobaan augmented blok ini terdiri dari :
gen, sebagai perlakuan
block, sebagai sumber variabilitas lingkungan
name, sebagai nama atau kode genotipe keseluruhan
tsw, peubah respon.

Berdasarkan analisis ragam, menunjukkan nilai P-value genotipe pada kedua pendekatan p-value < 0.05 sehingga ada genotipe atau galur-galur yang memiliki respon terbaik. Selain itu, pada galur-galur atau kandidat yang diuji menunjukkan p-value < 0.001 sehingga terdapat perbedaan signifikan antar kandidat.

Dengan menyusun model campuran dengan paket lme4
mendapatkan beberapa informasi penting seperti metode REML untuk
estimasi parameter. Pada saat fitting model LMM dengan
mensetting (1|block) menandakan blok diletakkan sebagai
efek acak dalam model sedangkanentryc sebagai efek
tetap.
output model fit2 dengan methode summary()
menunjukkan nilai-nilai ragam dari faktor-faktor acak berturut-turut
sebesar 0.365, 0.014, dan 0.174. Selain itu, hasil parameter efek tetap
ditunjukkan oleh intercept, entryc1, entryc2, dan entryc3.
Parameter-parameter tersebut merupakan nilai yang merepressentasikan
nilai slope dan intersep. Selain itu juga terdapat korelasi-korelasi
antara faktor tetap di setiap kelompok yang menunjukkan korelasi yang
lemah hingga sedang.
Untuk menampilkan koefisien BLUP dari penduga acak dapat ditampilkan
dengan ranef.
