About me (elaborate a little bit)

Hi, I’m a business student majoring marketing at CSUB. My current objectives are to graduate with at least a 3.0 and land a good job. My career goal is to land any marketing position at any sort of entertainment industry whether that be in music, movies, video games.

Academic Background (elaborate a little bit)

I’m currently pursuing my Bachelor’s at CSUB.

Professional Background (elaborate a little bit)

I have nearly 10 years of experience working, I have held jobs consistently since 2016.

Experience with Excel (elaborate a little bit)

I have 5 years prior experience with Excel.

Experience with R & Tableau (elaborate a little bit)

I have a year prior experience with Tableau and am new to R.

Experience with other analytic software (elaborate a little bit)

I have zero prior experience with any other analytic software.

I wanted to become better with analytic softwares at the end of the semester.

I would like to pursue a career in marketing as a marketing director.

Write down two things that you have learnt in this course that you believe will be relevant in your work and which you think you will be applying in your job over the next two years

Two things I will remember about what I have learnt over the last 6 months are new tools and their uses such as R and Python, as well as further uses of Tableau. While there were times I was frustrated with errors, I was able to grow overtime with learning in the course.

A strategy that really helped me learn better is taking advantage of learning tools like DataCamp, especially since I completed over six courses. This really helped me understand course material more efficiently.

If I could do something again differently I would get a better understanding of the syntax formulas provided because there were times where I was confused. My grasp of the concepts got better later on in the semester.

One thing I will remember to do in the future is to ask for help from a mentor or someone else knowledgeable in the subject. I am stubborn sometimes and do not like to ask for help, but it can be a valuable asset to my future learning and growth.

One thing I really want to learn is more uses of R, Python, and Tableau. I believe learning their full potential will help me exponentially in my future endeavors. This will also help me stand out above competition in the work force.

True. I think marketers are creative enough people to rely more on themselves and their intuition than study numbers and statistics enough to pull their next moves strictly on the basis of that. So, while they still may use the numbers for the root of decisions, they do not fully understand them enough to fully work with that data.

The most important skill/technique I learned in this class was general knowledge of coding. I have never had any exposure to coding, so this class was a first for me. With intermediate knowledge of R & Python, I am eager to be an expert in both and potentially learn other programs.
