The Mid-Year Data Review is an opportunity to analyze summative Fall
End-of-Course (EOC) student outcome data. We will also discuss formative
DIBELS and i-Ready data that give us some insight into how students have
been responding to instruction up to this point in the school year.
The graph below shows the number of students who are chronically absent by school. Chronically absent is defined as having missed 10% or more of instructional days during the school year.
The graph below shows the distribution of student absences by month.
At the end of the 2024-2025 Fall Semester, students in Biology, English II, Math 1, and Math 3 took state assessments. However, the Biology standards have been revised for the 2024-2205 schoo year. Therefore, student outcomes are not available until the state standardizes scores.
We will review student outcomes in English II, Math 1, and Math 3 as well as compare the 2024-2025 Fall Semester outcomes to outcomes of previous fall EOC results.
Fewer than 30 students were administered the Fall Math 1 EOC test. Most students will take the Math 1 EOC during the spring administration. Below is a comparison of fall Math 1 results over the past three years.
Because of the historically small cohorts of students who are tested in Math 1 during the fall administration, it is not possible to form strong conclusions regarding Thomasville City School’s final End-of-Year Math 1 proficiency percentage.
| Test | # Proficient | % Proficient |
|---|---|---|
| Math 1 - Fall 2022-2023 | < 10 | 47.4% |
| Math 1 - Fall 2023-2024 | < 10 | 7.8% |
| Math 1 - Fall 2024-2025 | < 10 | < 5% |
Math 3 scores for the 2024-2025 Fall administration are a large improvement over the 2023-2024 Fall Math 3 results. While a larger cohort of students will be tested in Spring 2025, the fall results suggest that the district is trending towards a higher End-of Year proficiency rate for the 2024-2025 school year.
| Test | # Proficient | % Proficient |
|---|---|---|
| Math 3 - Fall 2022-2023 | 27 | 29% |
| Math 3 - Fall 2023-2024 | < 10 | 7.5% |
| Math 3 - Fall 2024-2025 | 11 | 32.4% |
English II scores for the 2024-2025 Fall administration are a meaningful improvement over the 2023-2024 Fall English II results. The fall results suggest that the district is trending towards a higher End-of Year proficiency rate for the 2024-2025 school year.
| Test | # Proficient | % Proficient |
|---|---|---|
| English II - Fall 2022-2023 | 26 | 31.7% |
| English II - Fall 2023-2024 | 23 | 31.9% |
| English II - Fall 2024-2025 | 21 | 38.9% |
Dynamic Indicators of Early Literacy Skills (DIBELS) assessments are given to students in primary grades to assess their development of key literacy skills. Students take a Beginning-of-Year (BOY), a Middle-of-Year (MOY), and End-of-Year (EOY) Benchmark assessment to measure growth and development over the course of the school year in addition to regular progress monitoring assessments. Students are placed in one of four categories based on their performance on these assessments: Well Below Benchmark, Below Benchmark, At Benchmark, Above Benchmark.
Looking at changes in students benchmark categories from the BOY to MOY assessments gives us an opportunity to assess the impact of our primary literacy programs and to make any necessary adjustments.
