Introduction to Me!

Hello! My name is William ‘Avery’ Parker, and I am passionate about business analytics and data-driven decision-making. I grew up in Westerville, Ohio (Close to Columbus), and I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics at the University of Cincinnati. My career aspirations include working in sports analytics or applying data science in soccer-related industries.

Professional Background

I most recently worked as a Business Intelligence Intern at Easy Way Products Co., where I had been tasked with: - Developing SQL queries to extract and analyze production data. - Create Power BI dashboards for data analysis and decision-making. - Automate reporting processes.

In addition, I have experience as a Shift Manager at Panera Bread, where I honed my leadership and operational management skills.

Experience with R

I have been using R for little over a year and have gained hands-on experience through my classwork in BANA 4137 and internships. Some of the tasks I have completed using R include:

Data Cleaning and Transformation using dplyr and tidyr
Data Visualization with ggplot2 and plotly
Statistical Modeling, such as my final project for 4143, based on about 50000 recent online chess matches and finding trends.
Creating interactive visualizations and reports using R Markdown

While I am still growing my ability to use R, I enjoy the versatility and open-source(Kinda like mods in a video game) nature of R, which makes it an excellent tool for data analysis. Prior to R, I worked with tools such as Excel, Tableau, and SQL to perform analytics.

In addition to R, I have experience with: - Excel: Data cleaning, advanced functions, and VBA macros. - Tableau: Creating interactive dashboards and visualizations. - SQL: Querying relational databases for analytics. - Python: Basic data wrangling and visualization with libraries like pandas and matplotlib. - Power BI: Building operational dashboards for business insights.

Fun Facts About Me

I have been playing soccer since childhood and I am a member of the University of Cincinnati’s club soccer team.
I love playing tennis, as I play on the UC Club Tennis Team as well.(Enjoy most sports!)
I enjoy painting Warhammer miniatures and I am on the UC Chess Team
