My Introduction

I guess my full name Luisa Fernanda Lopez Bustos can give you away where I come from. I’m from a country of coffee and family celebrations till sunrise. I’m from Bogota, Colombia. Being far waya from home is sometimes challenging but it fulfills my explorer spirit. If we talk about any topic I’ll be more than happy. But if you’re interested in the topics of translation, language learning, horror movies, or traveling, you got my heart.

Academic Background

My academic background is very diverse. I attended a bilingual school till eight grade. Then, due to my heavy schedule balancing swimming and school I had to opt for homeschooling. I studied online till my graduation with an American school. My plan was to study in an Spanish online college to specialize in translation. However, I quit swimming and decided to come to UC as a Public Relations major. After my first semester, I discovered that was not the path for me. I changed to Business Analytics and Information Systems.

Professional Background

I’ve always found interest in working and learning new things. For that reason, I’ve had multiple experiences on campus, where I’ve learned skills such as communication, customer service, problem-solving and organization.

Towards the end of 2023, I decided to apply for my first internship. I was able to land a co-op with Bendix CVS LLC as a Demand Planning Intern with the Supply Chain Team. I’ve been working for them for the last year, performing tasks such as demand analysis, data extraction and data mining.

Experience with R

My experience with R is limited. Last year, I decided to get ahead and start a LinkedIn course in R. I went through a few lessons and performed basic math and vector creation.

Experience with other analytic software

Thanks to my internship I was able to get a certificate in the statistical software, SAS. I’ve used it in one of my project in forecasting demand for a customer. One of the helpful things in SAS, is that it can perform tasks using SQL. This helped me in getting familiar with it. One of the tasks that I was able to perform are.

Additionally, I’m working with Python and Excel in other classes.
