My name is Ben Fagan, and I am a first-year PhD student in management studying organizational behavior. My research focuses on individual identity and how factors such as success, social and personal expectations, and pressures to perform affect people’s ability to thrive in their work.
Before starting at UC, I worked as a career coach at Lynn University in South Florida. I also gave talks to schools, businesses, and athletic programs on topics such as burnout, identity work, and fulfillment. My academic background is in multimedia journalism and digital media, where I also did a fair amount of freelance creative work. Some of that work can be seen here! My Portfolio
Beyond my current research, I still enjoy creative outlets such as photography, filming, editing, and digital design (I think I can throw data visualization in there, too!). In my free time, I enjoy watching sports of any kind and continuing to try my hand at learning Spanish. It’s a process, but I’m getting there!
I am brand new to R. I used it in a couple of classes in the fall, but R wasn’t the main focus, so I never felt entirely comfortable with it. This class has been awesome so far! Not only do I feel like I’m learning a lot and becoming more comfortable with the basics, but I’m having fun too!
The Adobe Creative Suite is my software home, but I’m excited to be diving into analytic software like this! It’s definitely scratching my creative itch!
