Introduction to Me

My name is Derek Christ, and I am currently a Junior at the University of Cincinnati, pursuing a major in Marketing with a minor in Business Analytics. I was born and raised right here in Cincinnati, Ohio. As of now, I have no plans to leave—I’m excited to grow both personally and professionally in the place I know best.

Academic Background

  • Went to Sycamore High School from 2018 - 2022

  • Currently at UC, working towards a Bachelor Degree in Marketing and a certificate in Business Anylitics

Professional Background

Throughout my college career, I have had the opportunity to complete one internship so far and am excited to begin another this upcoming summer as a Sales Intern for Pepsi. My first internship was as a Planning and Development (P&D) Intern last summer, where I gained valuable hands-on experience. My key responsibilities included:

  • Assisting in the efficient movement of plans through various departments to expedite approvals.
  • Delivering exceptional customer service to individuals submitting their plans, ensuring a positive and professional experience.

This role provided me with insights into process management and customer interaction, skills I look forward to building on in my future endeavors.

Experience with R

Up to this point in my college career, I have had no experience with R. My coding background is limited to a semester long high school class where I was introduced to JavaScript.

That said, I’m genuinely excited to dive into R, as it presents an opportunity for me to grow both personally and professionally as a data analyst. While I know learning R will be challenging, I’m ready to put in the effort and embrace the process. I look forward to developing new skills and expanding my knowledge throughout this semester!

Experience with other analytic software

In addition to my limited experience with R, I don’t have much familiarity with other analyitcal software besides Excel. However, I did complete a Spreadsheet Analytics course last semester, which gave me a solid understanding of Excel and its capabilities.

I’m excited to expand my knowledge and gain hands-on experience with more advanced analytical tools. I believe that developing these skills will be very valuable for my career and help me excel in the field of data analysis.
