The study examines the effects that waitress’s self-reported traits, including age, breatst size, body size, waist-to-hip-ratio, hair color, and BMI, have on their self-rated attractiveness, their sexiness, and the average tips they received from customers. The results did show that waitress’s with blond hair did receive larger average tips than their counterparts.
Restaurant waitresses(18 years and older) in the United States within the past year were recruited for an online survey by asking a popular blogger to post a link to the survey and ask his female readers who waited tables to complete the survey. The experimenter posted a link to the survey on his personal website and recruited participants from among friends and students. A total of 374 women from the population of interest were studied.
The study was not randomized or double blinded since all of the information was self-reported, so the author’s conclusions are not justified and should be questioned.
