Paper Summary

Study Design

Block design: time slots as blocks, and conditions(no scent, lemon, lavender) were each assigned to one of three slots.

Participants were 88 people in a small town in France. Each table was between two and five people.

Dependent variables: length of time stayed, amount of money spent.

Conclusion

Lavender positively influenced length of time stayed and amount of money spent. Lemon/No scent did not influence the variables.

We do believe the conclusions were justified. However, there were some serious limitations. We don't think Lam justly presented the findings in the article because he generalized the findings to diners in general.
