The plot on the left is an interactive bar chart showing the relationship between the average median annual wages and the education level a person achieves. The plot on the right is an interactive box & whiskers plot. It shows the relationship between the number of years of work experience an occupation requires and the median annual wage a person achieves.
This chart titled “Employment Comparison: Men Total vs Women Total Across Industries” provides a comparative analysis of male and female employment across various sectors. The y-axis represents the number of employees in thousands, extending up to 120 million, while the x-axis lists diverse industries such as Mining, Quarrying, and Oil and Gas Extraction; Construction; Manufacturing; Wholesale and Retail Trade; Transportation and Utilities; Information; Financial Activities; Professional and Business Services; Education and Health Services; Leisure and Hospitality; Other Services; and Public Administration.
This graph details data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The x-axis represents the number of total employees in that respective industry (in thousands), over the past 24 years. Examining five different sectors of the American economy, we can look at the data and recognise what emerging employees are choosing to pursue, as well as how economic factors impact the employment rate (particularly 2008 market crisis, and 2020 covid-19 epidemic). One of our findings in this data was calculating the -195% decrease in the total number of Hospitality employees, in 2020 after Covid-19.
| Industry | Minimum_Employees | Maximum_Employees |
|---|---|---|
| Government | 21395 | 23457 |
| Business | 15927 | 22991 |
| Hospitality | 8715 | 16993 |
| Healthcare | 12748 | 22721 |
| Construction | 5427 | 8310 |
This bar plot displays the average educational degree attainment for select major occupation groups. The x-axis major occupation groups we selected were Management, Business/Finance, Architecture/Engineering, Healthcare Practitioners/Technical, and Arts/_Design/Entertainment/Sports/Media. The y-axis shows the average percentage of people in each occupation that have attained each different degree type. Those different degree types are: Less than HS, HS or equivalent, Some college, Associates, Bachelors, Masters, and Doctorate. We chose to utilize a grouped bar plot to display this data because we felt that it easily allowed viewers to see different trends and differences across each occupation group in a side-by-side fashion.
This graph details data from the World Bank. These highcharts display the average unemployment rates of different geographic regions over time. The one on the left shows the 5 regions with the highest average unemployment rates, and the one on the right shows the 5 regions with the lowest average unemployment rates.
