Monitoring season: Fall

Monitoring year: 2024

Notes for report?: Fall preliminary 11/8/24

Summary of noise and existing and natural conditions

This table is incorporated into the the standard format of acoustic monitoring reports, executive summary table. It can be copy and pasted into the existing format of the report template.

Summary of existing and natural conditions across several percentiles

This table is incorporated into the the standard format of acoustic monitoring reports, executive summary table. It can be copy and pasted into the existing format of the report template.

Table XX. Summary of summer noise sources and sound levels at two Canyonlands NP sites in the Fall season. Included for each site are maximum (\(L_{Amax}\)), 10th percentile (\(L_{A10}\)), existing (\(L_{A50}\)), natural (\(L_{Anat}\)), 90th percentile (\(L_{A90}\)), and minimum (\(L_{Amin}\)) ambient sound levels (dB re 20 µPa, A-weighted broadband,12.5 Hz—20 kHz) during the day (0700-1900) and night (1900-0700). The difference between the natural and existing ambient sound levels indicates the deviation from the natural condition.
SiteID Time \(L_{A10}\) \(L_{A50}\) \(L_{Anat}\) \(L_{A90}\)
CANYCOLO Day 33.9 25.7 NA 22.1
CANYCOLO Night 41.9 38.5 NA 35.1
CANYGREEN Day 32.2 24.1 NA 21.1
CANYGREEN Night 43.6 39.2 NA 33.4

Impact and Listening Area Reduction

This table provides a summary of the dBA impact by site and the reduction in listening area. It can be used for the Discussion section in the report

Listening Lab Tables Source ID using Listening Center AMT toolbox technique

These tables are incorporated into the the standard format of acoustic monitoring reports. Each site includes the hourly sound source identification and the hourly percent time audible. After generating the metrics files with the listening lab data incorporated, run this Rmarkdown. Explore each table and identify NAs or source descriptions that do not make sense. Use this to guide potentially misidentified descriptions and return to the raw acoustic data to confirm or re-identify. If it is a mis-identification, reclassify the description with the correct identification in the original listening lab .txt file. Then re-run the metrics files process in AMT. Then re-run the RMarkdown document for a new table. It can then be copy and pasted into the existing format of the report template.

Listening Lab Tables Source ID using SPLAT

Standard Plots for Acoustic Monitoring Reports

Plots for each site (CANYCOLO, CANYGREEN), respectively.

Time Audibility: top two noise sources of each site and total noise audibility by hour.

Freqplot: L10, L50, [Lnat], and L90 1/3 octave band plots

Hourplot: Median hourly wideband dBA values

Contour: Plot with Hour on the X-axis, Frequency on the Y axis.
