In recent years, Gender Pay Gaps have been a popular topic in gender relationship research.

The WGEA(2024) Employer Gender Pay Gaps Snapshot made a research on comparing employer gender pay gaps by industry. We will be looking it to this research and its data.

The data

2 data sets from WGEA(2024) are used:

  • Data set 1: Median Gender Pay Gaps by Industry This data set contains information on the median gender pay gaps across various industries.

  • Data set 2: Gender Pay Gaps by Presence of Women CEOs This data set gives an general idea of how the presence of women in CEO positions impacts the gender pay gap within organizations.

Discussion

  • Companies that do not have woman CEOs are having gender pay gaps more in favor of man than woman.
  • Companies that have woman CEOs do not have significant pattern.

Median Gender Pay Gaps by Industry

Discussion

  • Significant gender pay gaps in construction industry. The pay gap reached 30%.
  • Minor gender pay gaps in areas like public administration and safety and accommodation and food service. The pay gap is below 10%, which is impressively low.
