Visulisation 1: Overall Gender Proportion

Pie charts are not considered to be the best way to visualise anything but I would start the story with one because it displays what percentage of the total work force is dividend between the 2 genders. We can see here that women are in greater numbers. We always tend to argue on pay disparity between genders but this is something to think about.

Visualisation 2: Gender Distribution by Industry

Now showing the how the 2 genders compete industry wise, we can still see that for a larger number of industries, women exist in greater numbers. The industries which traditionally require more labourwork have more men. Hence the word “manpower” (pun intended).

Visualisation 3: Gender Breakdown by Employment Type

Here we see the 2 genders with the employment type (casual, contract and permanent). We see that men are more than women in permanent roles only. The other 2 roles have more women. This can be because maybe women are looking for such roles.

Visualisation 4: Gender Representation by Submission Group Size

Here it is seen that there are more women in larger submission groups or larger organisations whereas there are more men in smaller organisations.

Conclusion

Just want to say that we are always looking at pay gap while we can compare real statistics. Instead of interviewing individual employees, interview organisation owners to see if there is some sort of disparity. I feel this issue has become big only due to the narrative being built before the data is taken.
