Based on the table above, which shows data from 2010 to 2018, we can learn more about temperature patterns throughout the year. For example, we can ask which months have the most stable temperatures? Months with a lower standard deviation, like July or August show that the temperatures don’t change much day-to-day. On the other hand, months with a higher standard deviation, such as January, February or March, have more temperature changes. We can also look at which months have the smallest or biggest difference between high and low temperatures.

These two bar plots illustrated above show the average monthly high and low temperatures of the city of Columbus(OH). Both plots show a similar pattern of temperature variation throughout the year, increasing from January to July and decreasing from August to December. The average monthly highs are generally higher than the lows, with a highest average max. temperature of 85 degrees Fahrenheit and a highest average min. temperature of 66 degrees Fahrenheit both in July.

The line graph above shows how the temperature changed each day in April 2018 in Columbus, Ohio. The temperature went up and down, but it generally got warmer as the month went on. The highest temperature recorded was 82 degrees Fahrenheit, on 4/13/2018 and the lowest temperature recorded was 38 degrees Fahrenheit on 4/9/2018.
