Hello, (This is Renad’s online workbook)
Meet the penguins
The penguins
data from the palmerpenguins package contains size measurements for 344 penguins from three species observed on three islands in the Palmer Archipelago, Antarctica.
Who Are the Palmer Penguins?
The Palmer Penguins are three types of penguins that live on some islands in Antarctica:
Adélie Penguins
Chinstrap Penguins
Gentoo Penguins
Scientists measured things about these penguins, like:
How long their flippers are (the part they use to swim).
How heavy they are (called body mass).
How long and deep their bills (beaks) are.
They collected this information to learn more about the penguins and how they’re doing in their environment.
Flipper and bill lengths
The plot below shows the relationship between flipper and bill lengths of these penguins.
So, even though these penguins live far away in Antarctica, we can use R and cool pictures like scatter plots and box plots to learn a lot about them. It’s a fun way to use data to understand the world!
