As variáveis que geram agrupamentos em nossas observações estruturam o conjunto de dados, determinam a forma como tabulamos os dados e como os analisamos.


Que tipo de variáveis: Fatores (níveis de fator)

e.g.

  • Localização: local 1, local 2, local 3…
  • Tratamento: tratamento 1, tratamento 2, tratamento 3…
  • Temporário: dia/semana/mês

Como organizamos os dados?

Existem vários formatos, os mais utilizados são long format e wide format.


Wide format:

Passos para tabular os dados


1. Quais são as variáveis que agrupam os dados (aquelas que dão estrutura ao nosso conjunto de dados).


2. Nomeie as variáveis e organize-as da esquerda para a direita considerando seu aninhamento

Dicas:

  • Utilize nomes simples, sem espaços entre palavras e sem caracteres especiais:

Bem: \(precipitacao\_Lm2\) - \(preci\_Lm2\) - \(preci\_lm2\)

Ruim: \(precipitação~L\times m^2\)

  • NUNCA! valores médios antes de tabular. Os dados ‘brutos’ são sempre tabulados.

  • Gere os metadados para cada variável.

Foram amostrados três meses, dois locais por mês, duas condições florestais por local e, em cada um, foram coletados dados de densidade de flores por m2 e abundância de polinizadores.

Resumindo

  • O design da sua pesquisa determina a estrutura dos seus dados.
  • Esta estrutura é dada pelas variáveis de agrupamento.

Dicas:

  1. Simplifique os nomes das variáveis.
  2. Gere metadados.
  3. Organize as variáveis de agrupamento da esquerda para a direita, da menos aninhada para a mais aninhada.
  4. NÃO FAÇA A MÉDIA DAS VARIÁVEIS.

Explorando e filtrando a tabela

Vamos trabalhar com um conjunto de dados real. São dados morfométricos (tamanho do corpo, comprimento da asa, comprimento do bico e altura) de pinguins Pygoscelis spp. da Antártica.

Vamos carregar os dados e iniciar a exploração. Os dados estão no pacote palmerpenguins.
