Hello, my name is Gerardo De Alba. I am a
business analytics major for UTSA and a data science intern
for non-pofit organization Form Communities. I have developed a large
interest for anything analytical related and want to learn as much
knowledge as possible about the industry. I was born in Mexico City,
Mexico but came to live to Texas at a very young age and have lived hear
since. Fun facts about me are that I am the youngest of 5
sons, love to hike, and I have a lovely girlfriend.
Main professional background I have involving my field is as a data science intern at Form Communities where I work a lot with data and data transformations via ETL scripts, making predictions and statistical modeling as well as writing reports on descriptive statistics where then I visualize my findings and make presentations to my higher ups. The main goal of my work is identifying business problems and working closely with management on coming up with strategy’s and solutions to fix these problems to optimize time and efficiency for the Form Communities organization. Here is a link to one of the servers I help build setup. I can’t provide the username or password to access for the sake of Form Communities, but for example purposes of this homework I will include the link. San Antonio Club House
The main experience I have with R is my classes and internship. I am in a lucky position where R is the main programming language used in my employment and my classes in business analytics, so a lot of the the things I learn in my classes, I apply to my job and vice versa. I have been working with Form Communities for 8 months now and I still have a lot to learn with R but it is safe to say that I am quite comfortable using R as my main source of coding. I also aim to learn SQL, Python, and C++. Even though I do have a basic foundation of Python, I would like to become proficient with it.
