My name is Eduardo Aldape and I am currently a Senior at UTSA studying Business Analytics and Operations Supply Chain Management. I am originally from San Antonio, Texas, however I moved to Pune, India with my family when I was 11 and lived there until I was 18. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in India. I made a lot of close friends and have been able to visit several time since moving away in 2008. In my free time my wife of 6 years and I enjoy traveling, working out, hiking, playing board games and taking care of our three small dogs.
Before moving to India I attended various elementary schools in San Antonio. While living in India, I was home schooled from the 6th grade until my senior year in high school. After moving back to San Antonio, I originally attended UTSA from 2008 to 2010, but eventually left due to not knowing what I wanted to study. I ended up working for a company who offered to send me back to University to complete my Bachelors Degree. I decided I wanted to study Business Analytics and even added a second major in Operations Supply Chain Management as this subject interested me as well.
When I left school for several years to join the workforce, I briefly
worked for Starbucks, Target,
Half Priced Books, Carenet, and
Wells Fargo. For the last 9 years have worked for a Mining
company, Martin Marietta,
who is based in Raleigh, North
Carolina, but has several Quarries and Sand Plants in the Central
and South Texas area. In these positions my main areas of expertise were
customer service, operations management, sales, supply chain
operations, sales analytics, and account management.
In regards to me experience with R and Data
Mining, I have had limited exposure to
R in the past. I used
R for the first time in Dr. Zu’s Data Mgmt
Business Analytics course which I took last Spring Semester of
2024. I have yet to use it again until this course. As far as my
experience with Data Mining goes, I have had
extensive experiencing searching for, extracting, cleaning, sorting, and
utilizing data in my current sales position. In my current
position, I am required to bid on TXDOT projects across Texas. To be
successful at winning projects and the highest possible profit margin
while staying as close as possible to my competitor’s pricing, I
utilizing several methods of Data Mining and
Sales Analytics techniques. I also have some experience with
SAS as I have used it in previous and current courses at
UTSA. In my current sales role at Martin Marietta I have also
used IBM, Tableau, and Excel analytics tools.
