Introduction

Hey! My name is Shirsendu Maiti, and I am a graduate student at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Business Analytics. The field of analytics is entirely new to me, so it feels like I’m back in school, learning everything from scratch. I have four years of cumulative work experience in the Techno-Finance sector. I am eager to learn the fundamentals of data wrangling in R and am thoroughly enjoying your classes so far.

Professional Background

I worked as Process Associate in Accenture Credit service where I was a part of Loan portfolio and Risk Analysis Team for an American Based Bank “SunTrust”. Later I joined Capgemini as a SAP Consultant(Finance) where contributed in multitude of Projects with Client from wide-range of Industrial sector such as “Cathay Pacific”, “Asahi Breweries”, “Newcrest Minings”,“Hinduja Global Solutions Limited”(On-Site support). My roles in these projects included:

  • System Integration Testing/ User Acceptance testing of SAP system
  • Incident Management and “IDOC” error Rectification
  • Catering the Functional as well as technical Changes in SAP
  • On-Site support, Managing 50+ End-users of SAP Finance and Material management modules
  • Month-End Accounting Activities in SAP such as Closure of Opened Items, Depreciation run, etc.

Experience with R

So far, I have learned the fundamentals of R and RStudio, including vectors, data types, and data structures. I’ve also discovered the benefits of creating separate projects to avoid data discrepancies. I am excited to see what awaits in the upcoming classes!

Experience with other analytical Softwares

I collaborated with a SAP analytics team to implement the SAP Analytics Cloud module for a client, although I did not gain hands-on experience using this module. I am eager to work with it once I complete this degree.
