Introduction to Me

Hello! I am a second year at the University of Cincinnati studying Business Analytics. I also am a student-athlete for the baseball program at UC Clermont. I grew up in Loveland, Ohio, which is about a thirty minute drive from the university. My goal through data analytics is to pair my knowledge of the subject to my passion for baseball as a performance analyst in Major League Baseball.

Academics

Professional Background

Currently I am an intern with the UC athletic department. Specifically, I focus on Video and data analysis for the Varsity Baseball program. Some of my tasks include:

• creating in depth scouting reports
• monitoring baseball metrics collected using radar, infrared and high-speed imaging
• syncing multiple video cameras around the stadium to review in-game footage

Previously, I worked as a resource center intern for The Motz Group where I did data analysis regarding capital expenditures, equipment management, and inventory. I also assisted with telematics data for the company’s fleet.

Experience with R

This class is my first official deep dive into R. I have a little prior experience of using R in high school. I experimented with a few packages in R to examine baseball data for a project that I completed. Besides that, I have no formal experience with R and am excited to learn how to make various models and simulations.

Another language that I have come across is SQL. The internship that I worked for used an application called DOMO to create data dashboards. I used SQL to import data to create a dashboard for my specific department.
