Hello, my name is Vanessa Vo, and I’m a sophomore double majoring in Business Analytics and Operations Management. I’m really excited to dive into this class to expand my knowledge of coding, especially when it comes to learning R. In my free time, you can find me obsessing over all things cat-related—I’m a huge cat lover! I’m looking forward to growing my technical skills and applying them in real-world scenarios.
I am an international student from Vietnam. Ever since I was young, I’ve had a huge passion for working with data, so choosing to major in Business Analytics and Operations Management felt like a natural fit. UC has always been my top choice for studying abroad, and I’m excited to gain even more data analytical knowledge through this class. I also plan to continue developing my skills as I work towards attending graduate school.
I currently work as a Project Data Analyst at Great American Insurance. In this role, I validate and analyze monthly reports from various business units, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of the data. I then compile these findings into high-level report summaries that are presented to managers, helping them make informed decisions based on key insights.
This is my first experience working with R, though I have a basic understanding of it. I sometimes struggle with keeping my code organized, but I always manage to complete the task. In addition to learning R, I’m also studying SQL in my Data Management class and have used Excel frequently. Through my internships, I’ve also gained familiarity with Tableau and Power BI, further expanding my data analysis toolkit.
