Introduction To Me

Hello my name is Beckett and I am third year business analytics major. I am very excited for this class to get started learning R and work towards being analyst. Couple things about me, I love sports, my discussion posts have all been sports files. I am a member of Bearcast Media and will be calling games this year for the radio. I am also a member of Linder Business Honors and plan on joining the UC bana club.

Academic Background

I grew up in Fort Thomas Kentucky right across the river and attended Highlands High school there. Growing up so close I knew I wanted to attend UC very early on. I learned about business analytics and since then being an analyst has been my goal. This is my 4th Bana Class after taking Spreadsheet Analytics last semester which is my favorite class i have taken here. I hope to finish my undergrad and attend grad school here at UC.

Professional Career

I am currently a Premium Club Supervisor intern at Great American Ballpark after working there as an ice cream cart attendant for two years. Additionally last summer I was an analytics intern at PBR Kentucky where I helped run high school scouting events. I am hoping to find another another analytics internship for a business in the summer.

Experience

This is my first experience with R although I know a little about it. In the past I have used both java and python but am not the best coder. I typically struggle with keeping my code clean although I usually get the job done, In terms of other analytics software I’m learning SQL at the same time in Data Management and have used Excel frequently.
