Introduction

Hi, I’m Danny Ollerton. I’m from Cleveland, which is why I am huge fan of the Browns, Guards, and Cavs. I am junior majoring in BANA with hopes of finding a career that combines data with sports.

Academic Background

Professional background

I have worked a variety of random high school jobs and internships. To name some of them:

Throughout those jobs, I have had the opportunity to learn what my likes and dislikes are. With the UC Foundation co-op, I had the chance to help plan, execute, and wrap-up events–many of those events being sports related. As simple-minded as it may seem, sports have played a pivotal role in my life so I would love it if I can get into the sports analytics world. Thus, that field is at the top of my list for my next co-op.

Expereience with R and other analytical software

When it comes to R, I am a beginner. This class is the first time I have interacted with it but I have enjoyed learning about it so far and am looking forward to the rest of the semester.

In the spring, I took an IS class where we used Python but not really because it was less than an hour of it so I don’t count that. Beyond that, I took a coding class in high school that I really enjoyed. It was 4 years ago but I believe we used Javascript.

Moreover, I have used excel a fair amount with my previous and current internships. However, I haven’t used anything too advanced. I am taking spreadsheet analytics right now though and have been learning much more about it.
