My Introduction

Hello! My name is Shelby and I’m from Cincinnati. I’m in my fourth year majoring in Information Systems and Business Analytics, and minoring in Software Engineering. I’m hoping to go into either Data Science or Data Engineering!

Academic Background

• Working towards my BS and BA at the University of Cincinnati
• Prior to UC, I was at the Fashion Institute of Technology (transferred out so no degree earned)

Professional Background

Currently I’m in a year-long internship at Western and Southern Financial Group as a Data Integration intern within the Software Quality Assurance Automation team. My work has mainly been in SQL, testing the ETL development team and the enterprise data warehouse. Now I’m transitioning into testing for the Fort Washington Investment (subsidiary of W&S) IT team. Towards the end of the year I will work to test the BI reporting team and their work. It’s been an incerdible experience by not just increasing my technical skillsets, but getting to network with professionals to learn about a variety of IT fields.

Experience with R

This class is my first time interacting with R, but I definetely enojoy it and can see myself utilizing it in my future career!

Experience with other Analytic Software

• Python: Started learning it this Summer in a Data Structures class and now using it in Programming Languages course
• SQL: Learned it in an IS course and now utilizing it at my internship
• Tableau: Used it when I participated it in the 84.51 case competition this past Spring
