Individual Evaluation Report

Warrior Research Center- Auburn University

Fall 2024

Berlin , Cameron

Thank you for participating in the Air Force BOLT Program. During your initial screening visit, we evaluated your body composition, posture and functional movements, flexibility, mental performance, muscular endurance, strength, power, and health, as well as your functional status and aerobic exercise capacity. We compared your results to individuals of the same age and biological sex provided by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) guidelines. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

Body Composition: This assessment is a measure of the amount and percentage of muscle, fat and water in your body. We measured your body composition with a bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA). This was completed by assessing your hydration status, and stepping onto the four-point BIA unit that sent a weak electric current through your body.

Your total body weight is 152 lbs.

Your muscle weight is 107.2 lbs, which is 70.5% of your body weight.

Your total body water content is 55%.

Your total body fat percentage is 25.8%. This places you in the Normal range.

Visceral fat is also known as belly fat. Or “toxic” fat. It is fat that is stored deep in the body around the internal organs such as the heart, liver, and intestines. A high amount of visceral fat can be dangerous for your overall health.

Your visceral fat level was 3, which is considered a Healthy Amount.

Body Mass Index (BMI): Your BMI is calculated by dividing your weight (in kilograms) by your height (in meters2). In general, you are at increased risk for the development of cardiovascular disease when their BMI is ≥ 30.

Your BMI is 23.8kg/m2, which is considered Normal.

Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR): We calculated your RMR through the measurements above. Your RMR is the amount of calories that your body burns when you are at rest in one day. This is also the amount of calories that you need to consume each day to maintain your body functions if you do no activity during the day.

Your RMR is 1406.925 kcal / day.

Active Metabolic Rate (AMR): Your AMR was calculated through your self-reported activity level and your body composition measures. Your AMR is an estimate of the amount of calories that your body burns in one day with your reported activity level. It is important to note that this is an ESTIMATE.

Your AMR is 2480 kcal/day.

Functional Reach: Measures your dynamic balance (the ability to maintain balance when you are moving). This test was completed when you stood in place and reached your arms out as far as possible without falling.

Your Functional Reach was 38 cm or 14.96 in, which means your are considered to be a Low Fall Risk.

Sit-and-Reach: This assessment measures your lower back and hamstring flexibility. Flexibility is important for maintaining good posture and balance, reducing your risk of falling when your balance is challenged and preventing low-back pain.

Your sit-and-reach score was 48.5 cm or 19.09 in. which places you in the Excellent range for your sex and age group.

Mental Performance: We used the FitLight Training System ® to assess your mental performance. The drills you completed assessed your reaction time, decision-making, memory, spatial awareness, and inhibition control. Reaction time is the duration between seeing a stimulus and responding to it. Spatial awareness consists of understanding where certain objects are in relation to our bodies. Inhibition control pertains to the ability to control automatic reactions. These processes are utilized in everyday tasks, from remembering what to get at the grocery store, to prioritizing commands and completing them precisely. Working on these cognitive functions for work and health-related reasons is important, especially as we age.

Response Drill (Block 1) Your average response time for Block 1 was 1.175 sec. and your total time to completion for the whole drill was 42.576 sec.

Response Drill (Block 2) Your average response time for Block 2 was 0.889 sec. and your total time to completion for the whole drill was 33.833 sec.

Response Drill (Block 3) Your average response time for Block 3 was 0.794 sec. and your total time to completion for the whole drill was 31.227 sec.

Average Response Time and Total Time to Completion Overall, your average response time for this entire cognitive assessment was 0.95 and the average total time to completion was 35.88 sec.

Postural and Functional Movement Screening: Pain Provocation (“Clearing Tests”) In the assessment we completed three pain provocation tests. The main focus of these assessments is to assess the possibility of heightened injury risk and focusing on key compensatory mechanisms used due to poor mobility and/or stability.

Based on your initial postural screen, we may recommend a more in-depth assessment. If you have additional questions regarding your postural screen please let us know and we will be happy to discuss your results more in depth.

Recommend additional/ more in-depth postural screen: Not Recommended

Shoulder Clearing – Right Shoulder: No Pain

Shoulder Clearing – Left Shoulder: No Pain

Spinal Extension – Prone Press Up: No Pain

Spinal Flexion- Posterior Rock: No Pain

Movement Screening: The functional movement assessment uses partial and full body movements to assess how the body functions and works together. It is important for the body to move cohesively and efficiently when completing both simple and complex day-to-day movements such as sitting down and getting back up or running and going around or over obstacles.

Movement Screening Assessments The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) grading system is basic, effective, and reliable. The system ranks movements as: 3 – Completed; 2 complete with compensation or deviation from the standard; or 1 - incomplete.

Modified Pushup – Trunk Stability You scored a 2 for the modified pushup. This means you are in the Sufficient category for this movement.

Overhead Squat – Full Body Kinetic Function You scored a 2 for the overhead squat. This means you are in the Sufficient category for this movement.

Vertical Jump: We used the vertical jump to assess your ability to produce full body explosive power. Power is the ability of your body to generate force within a specific amount of time. To complete the vertical jump, you must use many major muscle groups making it an excellent way to test your explosive power.

Based off your best recorded vertical jump, your jump height was 14 inches, and you with in the Average range for this assessment.

Based off your best recorded vertical jump, your jump power was 40.74 w/kg.

Whole Body Strength: We evaluated your whole-body strength with the Isometric Mid-Thigh Pull (IMTP). The IMTP is an assessment that measures the maximal strength and power of your body. With this assessment you performed a stationary pull against a fixed bar at mid-thigh. This assessment measures the peak force output, which is the maximum amount of force that you can generate over 3-5 seconds. The IMTP is an important test because it provides valuable information about your strength capabilities, without the risks associated with lifting heavy weights.

For your IMTP test, you reached 426.45 lbs peak force. This result places you in the Excellent for your age and sex.

Grip Strength: This assessment measures not only how much force you can generate with your hand squeeze, but handgrip strength is also highly related to the strength of several other major muscle groups of the body and can be used as an overall general health assessment which is important for daily activities.

Your right-hand grip strength was 87.1 lbs.

Your left-hand grip strength was 84.89 lbs.

The sum of your right and left-hand grip strength was 171.99 lbs.

This places you in the Excellent range for your age and sex.

Muscular Endurance (Maximum plank hold): This assessment evaluates the control and endurance of the back and core stabilizing muscles. The efficiency of these muscles is important in protecting the lower back, help with the transition of motion, power and movements of the lower body to the upper body, and to provide essential stabilization for balance and steadiness while being stationary and while moving.

Based on your plank assessment time of 180 sec, you are within the Superior for this assessment.

Aerobic Fitness: Aerobic fitness is important to normal daily function and reduced aerobic capacity is associated with premature death and disability. To evaluate your functional status and aerobic exercise capacity, you completed the 6-minute run/walk assessment.

Based on your results, you were able to Run/Walk a total distance of 1325.74 meters within the 6-minute time which places you in the Above Average category.
