We are analyzing data on U.S. gubernatorial candidates who were deceased between 1945 and 2012 to forecast their longevity after the election. Our focus is on how the sex of candidates might influence their post-election lifespan (lived_after). However, the assumption of stability may be compromised by significant increases in life expectancy over time, and the representativeness of our sample might be limited if it only includes major party candidates, potentially affecting the generalizability of our findings.
