How Does Music Affect Stress Levels?
When people are stressed, they tend to listen to music in order to lower their stress levels. But how much does music actually lower stress? For this study, we had participants read a story while listening to two different genres of music and at two different volumes to find out the effect they have on stress.
Music Genre (Calm and Rock)

Music Volume (loud or soft)

- The volume that the participants listened to the music.

- We measured this variable by how the participants answered the survey.
Song length

- The amound of time participants listened to the selected music
- Operational definition
- We measured this variable by searching for a song that’s a minute or less.
