The following graphics provide interactive maps to explore satellite locations recorded for Red Knot rufa subpopulation. These graphics are part of a more detailed report (Migratory Bird Satellite Tracking Synthesis: Using cutting edge data to advance understanding of Red Knot migration and breeding patterns).
Satelitte tags were used to track the distribution of 201 rufa Red Knots and 46 roselaari Red Knots. Individuals were reviewed and categorized into subpopulations following discussion with experts and draft recovery plan mapping.
Rufa subspecies (n = 210) were assigned under the following categories:
Southeast US/Caribbean (SE) : 25 birds
Northern South America (NSA) : 31 birds
Western Gulf of Mexico, Central America, Pacific Coast of South America (Western): 15 birds
Tierra del Fuego and Patagonia (Southern): 14 birds
Uncertain: 116 birds
Note: These maps contained all location points not filtered to a specific level of spatial accuracy.
